SQUARE ROOT: Sara Bichão

The roundtable marks the presentation of the book “Square Root: Sara Bichão”, which is the culmination stage of a long term research dedicated to the artist, partially presented in the eponymous exhibition presented last year in Appleton, curated by Luísa Especial. It includes five original texts written by Luísa Especial, Noëlig Le Roux, Joana P. R. Neves, Delfim Sardo, and by the artist Rui Chafes. All texts are available in English, French and Portuguese. Book design by Joana Durães.

There will be 4 public events dedicated to Sara Bichão´s work, which will happen in France (in Paris at Paraguay / Cité des Arts and in Sète at MIAM, in collaboration with Librairie L’ Échappée Belle) and in Portugal (CAC Torres Vedras).

SQUARE ROOT is a book published by AiR 351 in partnership with Sistema Solar (Documenta) and Paraguay Press and supported by Direção-Geral das Artes, Fundação Carmona e Costa and Institut Français. Instigated by AiR 351, this project prompted the mobilisation of a series of interlocutors and partners who helped to expand it on various fronts, mainly in Portugal and also in France. We thank everyone that helped us somehow along the way.
