Cammisa Buerhaus is a writer and performer based in New York City who collaborates with playwrights, filmmakers, and musicians to realize narratives both linear and abstract.

She received an MFA in Music/Sound at Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts Bard College, New York (2017), and a BA in Media Studies at the New School University, New York (2014). She has performed and exhibited worldwide at Culturgest [PT], The Whitney Museum of American Art [USA], Kunsthalle Basel [CH], Satsop Nuclear Power Plant [USA], and Jimei Arles [China]. Buerhaus is developing a web series, ‘Who Are the Dora, Doris’ with director Ghislaine Del Rais (2020), and stars in the film ‘The Sandbox Has No Limits’ by Alex Zandi (2020). She runs her own imprint Wild Flesh Productions, most recently producing an LP compilation of music made by visual artists, ‘Wild Flesh Presents: Various Artists’ (2019).

While in residency at AIR 351, she will focus on expanding her new play Optimistic Voices, a dramatic comedy about family and identity.
