Eszter Bircsák is a curator and cultural mediator who is interested in CEE regional creative industry, local movements and non-formal education forms. She is the co-founder of MER, a regional design and lifestyle brand, REPLYtoALL, an art and tech initiative, and she was one of the member of founders of the Kitchen Budapest medialab. Previously she worked as a gallery assistant at Trafó Gallery and she is the former head of the Székesfehérvár St. Stephen King Museum’s Fine Art Department. She graduated with a degree in Art History and Hungarian language and literature philology.
She curated and co-curated workshops, lectures and exhibitions all over Europe and in the USA as in at Victoria and Albert Museum (Digital Design Weekend 2017), Watermans Arts Center, London, Vienna Design Week (Stadtarbeit program), Design Museum Holon, Ars Electronica Center, Linz, ZERO1 Biennial, San Jose, TENT London, Kinetica Art Fair, London, Lodz Design Week, Belgrade Design Week or Trafó Gallery Budapest.
While in residency at AiR 351 Eszter Bircsák will focus to realise a “temporary lab” environment after the local research what kind of forms of events are relevant in Cascais. She would like to initiate weekly gatherings like “Open Dinners” where can have food and thoughts under the roof or hand-on workshops where self-learning/teaching/organise practices will be used.
