Pippa Mott (1990, Melbourne, Australia) is a curator currently living and working in Hobart, Tasmania. With her background in archaeology and public programming, material sensibility and accessibility are at the core of her practice, as is a strong emphasis on an open and dynamic dialogue with artists.

Pippa obtained a Bachelor of Arts (2009-2012) from the University of Sydney, majoring in Archaeology and Art History. In 2017, she completed a Curatorial Intensive course at the Royal College of Art, London, supported by grants from the Arts Tasmania Claudio Alcorso International Arts Residency program and the Copyright Agency Ignite Career Fund. As Curatorial Assistant at The Museum of Old and New Art (Mona), Pippa curates and project manages a wide range of museum exhibitions, site-specific artworks, and festival projects. Mona is Australia’s largest privately-owned museum and houses a diverse collection of over 2000 objects, ranging from ancient Egyptian funerary objects to modernist masterpieces and international contemporary art. In addition to its growing collection and dynamic exhibition program, Mona produces two annual music and art festivals – Mofo and Dark Mofo. Notable projects that she has contributed to include group exhibitions ‘The Museum of Everything’ (2017) and ‘On the Origin of Art’ (2016), Mike Parr’s ‘Entry by Mirror Only’ performance and installation (2016), and solo exhibitions by Marina Abramović, Gilbert & George, Matthew Barney, Cameron Robbins and Christoph Büchel.

While in residence at AIR 351 Pippa Mott will be developing an exhibition for the Museum of Old and New Art (Mona), cultivating relationships with Lisbon-based artists, curators and collectors, and contributing to public programs.
