We´re back after a Summer break and happy to start sharing the video recordings of the talks held at AiR 351 on June 24 within the 2023 Talks & Screenings public program.
The first one is by Filipa Sousa and it presents a PhD research proposal on independent/self-organised art education. In this talk she addresses on one side, the History of the university and art faculties; on the other side, the legacies of informal community pedagogical experiments that throughout the last two centuries have led to the emergence of multiple alternative art schools, academies and universities. In the talk, Filipa raises concerns such as: What then is an art school in the 21st century? What is the place of these schools in the History of Art and the History of Education? What are its pedagogical models and strategies? Its political dimension?
While at AiR 351, Filipa is also helping us further develop our community outreach and public programs with our residents.
If you relate to the topic and wish to send comments or somehow engage with Filipa´s research feel free to contact us: info@air351.art
